Protection benefits

    Mobile phone insurance cover

    • You are automatically covered by this insurance.
    • Covers most mobile phones, including smartphones and PDAs with call making ability.
    • Loss, theft and damage - including water, liquid and malicious damage.
    • 48 hour replacement handset delivered to your home, place of work or your nearest Carphone Warehouse Store. Replacement phones will, where possible, be of the same make and model and may be refurbished.
    • Unauthorised calls cover - up to £2,000 for monthly contracts and up to £100 for pay as you go customers, if your phone is used to make unauthorised calls following loss or theft.
    • Worldwide protection - wherever you are in the world, you're covered. A replacement phone will be arranged on return to your home address.
    • Accessories are covered up to £250 per claim, if they were lost, stolen or damaged at the same time as your phone.
    • Covers up to two claims per account holder in any 12 month period - a £75 excess applies for each claim.
    • Replacement handsets may be new or refurbished, subject to stock availability.
    • Loss of theft must be reported to your network provider within 24 hours of discovery for unauthorised use claims to be considered.
    • All claims must be reported to the insurer within 60 days.
    • Any costs relating to cosmetic enhancements that have been made to the phone, such as plating or embellishment will not be paid.
    • You must take all reasonable precautions to prevent loss, theft or accidental damage.
    • You must be a resident of the UK to avail of this benefit.
    • Mobile Phone Insurance is provided by Aviva Insurance Limited. Registered in Scotland, No 2116. Registered Office, Pitheavlis, Perth, PH2 0NH authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (No 202153). Whilst Aviva is the insurer of this policy and will remain liable to you under the terms and conditions this policy, we will use members of the Carphone Warehouse Group as our agents in order to help us administer your policy and deal with claims.

    Worldwide Travel Insurance

    • The maximum trip duration is 31 days
    • Winter sports cover is restricted to 17 days per year
    • Dependent children over 18 (or over 23 in full time education) are not covered under this policy
    • Travel within the UK, ROI or Channel Islands is only covered if you stay at least 2 nights in pre-booked accommodation at least 25 miles away from where you usually live
    • You must live in the UK, Republic of Ireland or Channel Islands and have not spent more than six months abroad during the last year

    • You or any member of your family are not covered for any claim directly relating to an existing medical condition unless you have called 0870 609 2043 (Opening hours are Monday to Friday 8am-9pm, Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 10am-5pm) for screening and cover has been confirmed.
    • If any of the statements below apply, you need to call for screening.
      • are receiving day or in-patient treatment or are on a waiting list for day or in-patient treatment
      • are intending to travel against the advice of a qualified medical practitioner
      • are travelling to obtain medical treatment
      • have already booked a trip and were aware of any medical condition before you booked
      • have received a terminal prognosis
    • There will be one of three outcomes following Medical Screening:
      • Cover may be provided without paying a premium,
      • Cover may be provided but a premium may be required for the existing medical condition, or
      • We may decide not to cover you for that condition

      If none of the above statements apply, you do not need to take any action. If any of the above statements apply to you or your family, cover cannot be guaranteed at this time for claims relating to your/their condition/s. You will need to call for screening to confirm.

    Accidental Death Insurance

    • Accidental Death Cover up to £15,000 is automatic and begins once your application for a ufirstgold account has been accepted by Ulster Bank.
    • If you are aged over 70, your Accidental Death Insurance cover will be reduced by 50%
    • For joint accounts the cover is split equally between you and the other account holders.
    • The policy excludes, but is not limited to, cover for an insured person's own illegal act, being under the influence of alcohol or drugs or engaging in Hazardous Pursuits*.
    • * Hazardous Pursuits shall mean racing (other than on foot or whilst swimming); motor rallies and competitions; mountaineering or rock climbing requiring the use of ropes or guides; aviation as a pilot or crew member of a fixed wing or rotary propelled aircraft.
