Standing Orders & Direct Debits - Managing Direct Debits
How to set up a Direct Debit
To set up a Direct Debit, simply contact the organisation you're paying and give them your bank account details. The organisation will then set up the Direct Debit for you.
How to cancel a Direct Debit
Cancelling a Direct Debit you no longer need is easy. Simply follow these steps:
- Log into Anytime Banking. In the 'Accounts Summary' page, click on 'Payments and Transfers' in the top left hand side of the screen. Select 'Regular Payments' and click on the 'Manage Direct Debits' option and follow the instructions to cancel the Direct Debit. Alternatively you can contact us via telephone banking or in person at the branch to cancel a Direct Debit or to inform us that you have cancelled a Direct Debit with a company.
- We will give you confirmation that the Direct Debit is cancelled when you do this via Anytime Banking or in a branch.
- It is imperative that when cancelling a Direct Debit, you tell the person or business it is paid to and let them know that you are cancelling the Direct Debit. This is to stop them requesting any future payments.
- If you think an amount has been wrongly taken from your account under a Direct Debit, tell us straightaway and if it is a mistake, we will give you a full refund.
