Designed to offer you the security you expect from your home cover. Our value and Premier Home Insurance products allow you to choose a policy to suit your individual needs.
  • Buildings cover- this offers protection from a wide range of risks, and we cover not only buildings but also other permanent fixtures on the property, including outbuildings, fixtures and fittings, interior decorations, fences and walls. The amount of cover you choose is based on the 'rebuilding' cost and not on the 'value' of your home.
  • Contents cover- contents include household goods and personal belongings (including personal money up to £300) in your home, which belong to you or any member of your household
  • 24-hour Emergency helpline - to assist you in finding local repairers
  • Alternative accommodation - if your home is unfit to live in following a claim, we will pay for the cost of providing other accommodation for you and your family, until you can safely return to your home (up to 20% of the buildings and contents sums insured)
  • Frozen plumbing - we will pay for damage caused by frozen plumbing
  • Accidental damage cover - we will cover damage to radios, televisions, videos, hi-fi and computer equipment.
  • Home office equipment - extensive cover of upto £5,000 per claim
  • Christmas and weddings - we will increase the contents amount insured on your policy by 10% over Christmas (1st December - 15th January provided you are covered during that period) and for family weddings (for 4 weeks before and after the wedding of an immediate family member).
  • Home heating oil - cover the reasonable cost of theft of Home heating oil.

The standard excess for Ulster Bank Home Insurance is £100. This is the amount you must pay towards certain claims.

Ulster Bank Home Insurance offers you the following optional extras covers, for a little extra on top of your premium:

  • Cash outside the home: accidental loss of money anywhere in the world in the custody or control of you or your family.
  • Credit Cards: cover for financial loss following unauthorised use of Credit Cards.
  • Bank or safe deposits: cover for accidental loss of or damage to items described in your schedule as being held in a bank or safe deposit.
  • Loss or damage: We will pay for accidental loss of or damage to any pedal cycles and their accessories subject to the limits as specified in the schedule belonging to you or your family whilst within the British Isles, or up to 60 days abroad in any one period of insurance.
  • Family legal protection: You can ring the helpline to discuss any private legal problem. This service is here to help, so please feel free to use it. While you have a current policy with us, the helpline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In particular, if something you are proposing to do may result in a legal claim, you must talk to us first. Legal protection cover is up to £100,000 per claim.

Any claim on any of the above, if purchased as an optional extra, will not be more than the limit shown in your policy schedule.

In addition, we'll give you a helping hand by paying upto £25 towards any switching charge imposed by your current home insurance provider. In order to switch, you must be able to answer 'Yes' to the following questions:

Your home:

  • Is your main residence, is permanently occupied solely by you and your family and is not left unoccupied for more than 60 days in a row.
  • Is built of brick, stone, or concrete, is roofed with slate, tile, concrete, metal or asphalt, is self-contained with its own front door and is maintained in a good state of repair.
  • Has not been damaged by flood and/or subsidence and is not in an area liable to flood and/or subsidence.
  • Is not used for business purposes other than paperwork, telephone calls and computer work.

You and any adult living with you have:

  • Never been refused home insurance, had a policy cancelled, declared null and void or had special terms imposed to buildings or contents insurance.
  • Never been convicted of any criminal offence (other than motoring convictions), or have any prosecutions pending.
  • Not suffered more than two claims during the last three years, had a burglary within the last 12 months and do not have an open claim in progress with another insurer.
